Just to keep an interesting development rolling....
I feel that it isn't a stretch to say that Petco/PetSmart > Walmart when it comes to retailers to purchase fish from.
However, what are your thoughts on those chain pet stores now gaining even more ground with Wally World getting out of the business? Who knows what the actual numbers are, but they did sell a lot of fish. I worked for [the wholesaler] G&G for several years and most of their business was supplying many of the Walmarts in the mid-Atlantic. This new turn of events would have surely been their demise had they not already been bought out by 5D Tropical.
My intent is not to bash any of the retailers. I personally would not buy fish from them. All of my purchases are from online vendors, local club members/friends, or mom & pop shops. I'm doubtful we see a return to the old days of a M&P shop in every shopping center, and the chain stores disappear as wiser consumers stay away from them. But what sort of boost(?) do you think it will give for the two big players moving forward?
And Happy, almost, 4th everyone.
