When you clean out all the old silicone, the glass is still connected but there is a fine crevice or void between the pieces. What's holding it together? Would it help or hurt to run a bead of "crazy glue" down between the glass before the final silicone sealer?

Generally, the silicone runs not only in the inside corners of the tank, but also in between the panes of glass. If there is a void in there, I would tank the tank apart and seal it properly.

Without silicone in between the panes, you not only risk the tank leaking, but a failure involving the tank separating.
