Multiple species of arapaima?

If so, some could be threatened with extinction. It's not so hard to believe that there are multiple species, just with undescribed differences. It would be a shame to lose these unbelievable creatures...

You'll need an awfully big rod and reel unless you're catching a juvie from one of Li's tanks.

Discovery channel had a show on catching the biggest fish (not hooked) where these guys were #1 on the list. There is a fishfarm in SA that catches the fry, treats them for parasites, grows them up a bit and then releases them back into the wild.

There were also catching full grown on rod n reel from a little fishing boat in the small rivers.

River Monster had an episode where the guy caught a huge Arapaima with a rod. I love that show. That guys has my dream job. Gets paid to go around all over the world and catch fish.
