Similis or multis shell dwellers

I'm deciding between getting similis or multis, one thing I like that similis do is they move the shells around the tank and also cover some shells with sand and just leave the hole uncovered. I was wondering do multis do the same since they are probably easier to find locally.

Also my tank is a 46 bow front would I be able to put anything else that swims on the top portion of the tank, I was thinking some of the smaller cyprichromis if they would work in this tank size? If so what would be a good number. Thanks

My multis do move a lot of sand around and the shells do move around, but I don't know that they are actually intentionally doing it or if the shells just slide as they dig.

One problem I've had with shellies in general if I give them too much sand is that occasionally a female with a batch of fry will get buried alive in a shell. Not sure how it happens, but I've lost a few that way. Not as much with multis, but I had it happen to 100% of my ornatipinnis females. it may have been a particularly dysfunctional male that did it, though, in that case.

Thanks for the info, I will check the shells frequently to see if there are any trapped. Any suggestions on tank mates?
