Reseal advice

So I'm resealing a 125 I got for 40 bucks three of the verticle seal are perfect the fourth however...not so much. The trim piece around the top split where the 45'S meet in the corner the added stress on the seam cracked the silicone between the two panes. The trim piece is attached very well, I don't think its coming off. I removed all the silicone and am left with a small gap maybe an eigth inch. I plan on filling the gap with silicone and using a strap to hold the corner tight as it dries. My question- how thick should the strip of silicone between the two panes be- how tight should I strap them. Also its an older tank with real thick glass and no support across the center on the top I would like to add one to take some pressure off the seams. Any ideas for how I should do this? Note to self....you get what you pay for!

not too sure because i have not tried resealing yet..but, i think in videos i have seen on youtube, it should be thick enough to run your finger through it to "press" it or so.. i do not know if you get what i mean, but you can always check youtube..generally older aquariums IMO are built to withstand the pressure, but if you don't mind making a brace yourself to help with stress points, its always better to assume the worst and be safe.. good luck with your project..if it all comes out well.. you got an awesome price!
