Um, yes, but I am far from anything but eyes glazed when trying to understand this stuff. The Seachem website states "It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels." Soooo, educate me? Will it have any effect on my TDS?

I would say no but I have been wrong too many times. Let us say that I seriously doubt it. What you need is whole house activated carbon filtration IF you really have heavy metals in your water. Heavy metals are just as bad for you as they are for your fish.
