Hi Everyone!
Hope you're enjoying some beautiful spring weather where-ever you are! You know how hot it can get in the summer in much of North America, however, so thought I'd try and tempt you with some cool Amazon weather in July and August. Those months are in the southern winter, of course, and also in the Amazon dry season, so temperatures drop into the low 70's (F) at night, and only reach up into the mid-to-upper 80's (F) by day. Skies are generally sunny and clear, and the star-gazing at night is spectacular.
We have a few upcoming trips scheduled for the end of July and beginning of August with Dr. David Schleser, expert photographer, natural historian and fish expert, and also with Jaap-Jan de Greef, long-time aquarist, cultivator of exotic plants and expert on all things "tomato". Other trips are also scheduled later in 2009 and into 2010, and new trips will be added periodically. Check the website www.amazon-ecotours.com for the most recent details. There is still space available on these trips, but if you are interested, you will need to book soon to ensure that you can obtain reasonable airfares!
19-25 July 2009 - Nature Photography and Natural History (with Dr. David Schleser) - based at the Madre Selva Biological Station
26 July-1 August 2009 - Tropical Fish Collection and Study (with Dr. David Schleser) - based aboard the Tucunare riverboat, and exploring the Nanay River and adjacent tributaries. This is the primary black-water river in the region, and home to a great number of specialties, including an introduced population of Putumayo River discus.
2-8 August 2009 - Tropical Fish Collection and Study (with Jaap-Jan de Greef) - based aboard the Tucunare riverboat and exploring the Amazon, Apayacu, Ampiyacu and other tributaries of the Amazon eastward of Iquitos
If you'd like additional information, feel free to email at any time!
All the best, and have a great summer whatever your plans may be.
Sincerely,
Devon
