I think you also need to take in account the age of your breeders, most of them need at least a couple of tries (or more) before they get it right.

sounds like a great project - and alot of fun to do too! The best part of fish-keeping is being able to just sit and watch them sometimes, and figure out what works best for you. Looking forward to reading more about your observations!
