Yeah, I was hand feeding him sunflower seeds. (kinda risky because he wasn't using his hands, how spoiled!!! lol)

Nikon D200, Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX, best lens next to the Nikon 70-200.

Nice stuff Phil.

I have a male cardinal raising all kind of heck out back that is showing those bright red colors too. This is the best time to capture birds up close as they attract mates and nest.

Keep sharing your great shots with us.:)

Very nice.
When I was a kid my father used to feed them penuts.

That is until they got too friendly and tried to get to the house and when you walked out side they would try to climb your leg. That stopped the hand feeding. In fact I think those became dinner.
After that he always fed them but not by hand.

Yeah, there were about 5-10 male Cardinals everywhere. Some young, some old. But all puffing out their chest for the ladies and like you said, showing awesome colors.

I spotted a woodpecker several times, but those things are like lightening when they fly away, could not snap a picture at all.

Thanks for the comments.

Makes me want to go out and shot some wildlife again!

Still in photo recovery, do not expect to pic up the camera anytime soon though.

I shot so many photos, that my fingers were actually cramping.

Loved every minute of it!!
