Multifasciatus tankmates

Hello everyone,
I was wondering what tankmates that swim up toward the top of the tank would do well with multies. I have a 46 gallon bow front and plan to keep about 15 multies. Thanks for any input.

The multis will eventually take out Haps and peacocks (that are not big enough to eat the multis). I tried keeping a group with some Placidochromis once...and the multi colony kept expanding until the Haps were out of luck...

Goodeids would be a good mix. Barbs or Danios too.

I think a top-dwelling Goodeid would work. that's why I like the Blue Tailed Goodeids. I've had other Goodeid types that stayed on the bottom...they would definitely get punked by the multis.

You're not going to find much from Tanganyika that won't compete with them. You can try moving the shells to one side and putting a tall rock pile on the other side. Then you could put some Julies, Daffodils, or Caudopunctatus in with them. All of the fish from Tanganyika that stay way up at the top (like Cyprichromis) need a much bigger tank than a 46 bow.

Christine's suggestions are all pretty good, you might also consider chalinochromis brichardi. Basically if you choose fish that stay in the rockwork and create a separate area for them you should be okay. I would suggest that you may want a second rock area as a refuge if you choose Julies. I'm keeping Julidochromis Marlieri and have had a few pretty violent divorces once the females have fry and decide the male is no longer welcome nearby.

good advice. Many tangs are "opportunistic shellies" and if they get kicked out of their normal territory, they'll have no problem trying to take up residence in a shell.

I like caudopunctatus so I may go with them. Originally I was planning to get a 75 gallon to do cyprichromis with the Multis but I read a lot of reviews of people having leaks with the specific setup so I decided on the 46 gallon which I know is way too small for them so just trying to figure out what would work best. Thank you very much for your advice.
