I'm sorry to see this close. But at least we have our own invert expert, Rachel O'Leary, speaking Saturday!

I spoke with a friend who used to wirk there. His buddy said the budget had no room to continue to fund it. The majority of the invert employees have specialized degrees. The zoo is spreading them to other areas in the zoo so they can keep their jobs but many have no experience/interest in these areas. The whole situation stinks.

I hate to say it, but the zoo has had a lot of problems lately that it might be able to at least partially solve by charging admission. Philly zoo charges somewhere around $20 a person, maybe more than that at this point.

Having a free zoo is awesome, but if the trade off is losing much of what makes the zoo unique and wonderful, what's the point?
