I HAVE DISCUS EGGS!

I met Discus Hans a little less than a year ago. I couldn't leave without taking home six 2 1/2 discus which I raised in a planted 55 gallon tank. Tonight I come home to a pair laying eggs. My first pair of discus with eggs! I can't believe it! I already have a 29 gallon tank setup for the move. Do I have to wait to move them? Or should I expect to lose this batch and settle for moving the pair to the breeding tank and hope they lay eggs again? Anway, IT GREAT! I raised angels but never discus! I'm hooked! I'll try to download pics.

Leave them there until the eggs hatch. If their first spawn is unsucessful, then move the pair to the 29. MHO

I am sure the eggs are gone by now. :) You can now move the discus. They will have to try a few times before they can successfully raise the fry. Good luck!

Well, it was a start! All the eggs are gone today. As I understand it, it's not unusual for such a young pair to eat their eggs or for eggs to "disappear" in a community tank. I'll move the pair to a separate breeding tank and let them try again.
