I've always got something nearby to take pictures with....the camera, iPad, or phone. Not many of them make it onto the forum, compared to how many I actually take.
I've found that the camera (I've been told its the image processing software) in my iPad does a fantastic job correcting for glass distortion. So if I want to take a picture of something and can only achieve it through a really extreme angle with the glass (ie peering down into a shell to see eggs), I do better with the iPad. Also, it behaves pretty well in low light. The downside is that the large iPad in front of the tank really freaks them out.
99% of what I take with my phone just sucks, but occasionally there's something I can use.
