Hiding Place

These are pics of my new 60 gallon hexagon tank (first pic) and the air pump decoration in the right corner (second pic). Most of my Peacocks and Haps hide behind the decoration. The smaller fish hide in the Texas Holey Rock and near the base of the plastic plant in the back left corner.

My Lustar Hydro-Sponge #5 filter is arriving on Tuesday. I was planning to hide it behind the decoration, which I suspect will eliminate the hiding spot. I don't want the fish to hide, obviously, but the tank is only 2 days old and some of the fish are a little stressed.

My question is: Is it safe to take away the favorite hiding spot, or should I put the sponge filter somewhere else until the fish are more comfortable in their new tank?
