Hi everyone,

My first post here, but im glad to be part of the community.

i bought this guy labeled as a gold tetracanthus, but i can't find anything that really looks like him. Could anyone identify the exact species?

He's a bad fish!

Welcome aboard, Adam.

He does have that body shape sort of like a tetracanthus, but never seen one that color. I'm not so much the Tang expert though. Could he be a darker-colored leleupi?

Whatever he is, he looks like he'd be a very friendly fella. ;)

It's about 2.5x the thickness of a leleupi, and his mouth structure is very different. There are very defined jowells, almost like a goby. He also spends time sitting on his front fins which are dark purple. He's got that orange by his gills like a Daphodile brichardi.

I've never seen a Tetracanthis this big, but that's the closest body shape. He's got a bit more of a long flat body almost like an algae blenny.

He's gotten a bit bigger, but here is a video. All these fish have been together for almost 3 years. They're in a 46bf but are about to be upped to a 110xhigh. The Tetracanthis is too mean for the tank, and I'd love to pair it up for a breeding project.
