Heading down to College Park in a little while to watch the Terps hopefully beat Duke. I've been out of school for almost 7 years now, but I'll actually be going back to school starting in the summer. I'll be a terp fan for life regardless. I wish I had the connections to have a ticket, but I'll do the next best thing and watch the game at a local bar with some friends. Hopefully there are no Blue Devils fans on the forum, but if there are, I have 2 words for you...

That game was amazing. I couldn't actually go to the game, but watching it at a bar in College Park was the next best thing. Everybody was on their feet and cheering by the end of the game.

A few minutes after the game ended I looked out the front windows of the bar and couldn't figure out why people were getting out of their cars in the middle of Route 1. Then I looked over to the right and there was over a thousand people in the middle of Route 1 blocking all intersections near Knox Road.

All traffic shut down and people had to turn around and find a way around Route 1. A UMD shuttle bus had to make an 11 point u-turn as people were pushing it trying to tip it. A few minutes later SWAT trucks and mounted police showed up and things really got crazy. Police in full riot gear and mounted police spent the next few hours driving people off the roads and attempted to break up all crowds to prevent more demonstrations. Several people were arrested. I saw a few people get maced and some were even attacked with batons.

Police were pushing everyone away wheteher you were causing trouble or not. At 12:30 all traffic was still shut down. I finally managed to drive through the police and crowds of people around 1AM to get through campus to be able to get out a different exit and leave College Park. There were still people shooting off fireworks, starting fires and being crazy when I left around 1AM. I'm sure the cops had their hands full for a while. I had a great time, and will definitely go down there for the next big game, but I think I'll park my car further from the bars.

I was keeping up with the score while at a Muse concert. I'm kind of glad I wasn't there since my gf lives on Knox I would not have been able to get out!

Yeah Knox was the center of all the action, but eventually people moved over towards the field in front of the dorms. I eventually made my way down Knox (trying not to run people over) and was able to drive through campus and make it out to 193.

We got the win we needed though. If we beat VA on saturday and Duke loses to NC we'll lock up the ACC championship for the regular season.
