There's a new carnivorous plant society forming in the Mid-Atlantic area. RSVP is required if you want to attend their first meeting.

First MACPS Meeting!
11 am on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Carnivorous Plant Nursery

This will be the first meeting of the MACPS! Get to know other carnivorous plant enthusiasts in the area, hear interesting talks on cultivation and science, figure out all the things you want MACPS to do, bring some plants to exhibit or trade, and have some fun. Michael Szesze has graciously offered his nursery for this first meeting. You are invited to camp out at the nursery for the weekend (there are 20 acres of land with ponds, woods, meadows, a trout stream, and the nursery grounds) or stay in a nearby motel. RSVP is required - email macpsociety@gmail.com. Please try to arrive by 11 am for lunch. We look forward to meeting you soon!

Here is a tentative schedule for the day:

• 11 am-12:30: Lunch and self-guided tours of the nursery
  
  
• 12:30-12:45: Welcome talks
  
  
• 12:45-1:15: Overview of carnivorous plants and their cultivation, with audience Q&A session
  
  
• 1:15-1:45: Presentation on automated carnivorous plant setups
  
  
• 1:45-2:15: Scientific talk on carnivorous plant botany/ecology
  
  
• 2:15-3:15: Workshop on repotting carnivorous plants
  
  
• 3:15-3:30: Discussion on MACPS goals, future meetings, and administrative details
  
  
• 3:30-4:00: Plant auction/trade with coffee break
