Foggy & cloudy please help

I have been dealing with a water issue for quite some time. Originally I thought it was filtration I had a bio-wheel 350, h.o.t magnum and magnum 350 canister. I ditched the two hob's and replaced with an fx5, I run that with the mag. 350 with water polisher. My water will not clear and I have tried EVERYTHING. changing media, cleaning media, adding circulation.....I have grown so frustrated I even added chemicals! Clarity, acurel, nutrifin clear water, jungle clear..... every product out there. My set up has a korolia 1500 and 750 on one side with the two filter outputs on the same side. The intakes are on the opposite sides. That makes over 3000gph pushing waste to the opposite side where it is sucked up by the filters. There is no particular matter floating around it is litterally like fog rising from a river in the morning but the fog is in the water and you can see it rising towards the lights. It used to be a 65 setup and the water was sparkling clear I put the water and fish in the 125 and it has never cleared (2months). I do water changes every week between 25% and 40% it may clear it up just a little bit only for a few hours. Please help me on this one any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also it has a black background has anyone noticed that a black background makes the water appear cloudier than say a blue background?
Thanks
Dan

Its a mix of fine black and brown gravel and arogonite. I thought it might be the arogonite but when it was in the 65g it didn't cloud it at all. It did however take forever to rinse clean and still clouds when I gravel vac but eventually settles.

Sounds like the aragonite to me. I would do a few very large water changes. Might want to take out the powerheads (or at least don't point them at the substrate), all that extra flow might be keeping the fine dust from settling. You have a ton of flow in that tank, too much I think. Make sure to place a plate on top of the substrate when re filling to not disturb it. In my experience aragonite can powder up pretty good. Not bad for saltwater since you don't vacuum the substrate. I would take out the powerheads for a week, if it clears up that was the issue. You have more flow in your tank than I had in my reef setup!

+1 too much flow also with large water and filter changes might cause a mini cycle...so aragonite not settling and bacterial bloom might cause cloudy water. But def too much flow
Can verify by taking sample of water in a vase to see if it settles in a few hours. Hang in there be patient

It was a combination of stirring up dust during water changes and then to much circulation not allowing it to settle. I turn off the korolia during water changes and let everything settle for a day then turn them on and it stays clear. No matter how much I vac up it seems like the aragonite constantly produces more dust. Thanks all for the ideas

yeah, that stuff can be a pain in the butt. used it in saltwater but wasn't a big deal due to no vacuuming and smaller water changes. it will take a while but eventually it will settle down be ok.
