Fish room for a customer

A couple months back I got a email from a customer who got my name from Pat Kelly in reference building fish tank stands and plumbing them for his angelfish grow outs. Well I meet with him and we discussed what he was looking for as far as size and tank dimensions. What we came up with was a 8 ft long x 42" wide x 48"high L-shaped stand to hold .
2- 75 gallon 1 -50 gallon breeder and 4- 40 gallon breeders. underneath that rack we put 2- 140 gallon vats and a 120 gallon sump. it turned out really well.

640 gallons with a magdrive 18 running the water. Jehmco LPH45 airpump.
I set it up so he can do water changes without getting his hands wet.
2 pumps on separate switches turn off the circulation pump let the tanks drain back into
the sump then turn on the second switch and empty the 120 gal sump into the buildings drain.
This is the second room I built with that feature it works really well.
More updates when he adds fish from the breeding side of his room.

Nice set up and arrangement.

My only constructive criticism for my peace of mind and cheap insurance would be to transfer the load directly to the floor by putting jack studs on the legs under the rim joists instead of relying on the fasteners to transfer the load. Not saying it will ever be an issue but i don't think Mike Holmes would pass it.

"My only constructive criticism" How did you come to that conclusion ?
all 10 of the legs are rabbited and glued and screwed into the 2 x 6 platform edges. there is more then enough support .Just a little
about my me and my experience. I've been a cabinetmaker for well over 30 years , so joinery is not a problem for me.
also I'm a licensed contractor I've been around and have worked on many types of framing and construction with wood, metal and composites. BTW the load is transferred directly to the floor. BTW Mike Holmes is from Canada not really a issue.
If you would like to take a closer look at the construction I will give you a tour.

Job well done! I like how you divided the tables and have the bins underneath. Creative setup. Very nice!

From the pictures it looked to me like the legs were only screwed to the inside of the rim joist. I couldn't make out the joinery you did there.
My conclusion came from my experience building decks and houses for many years and having to build to code and pass inspections from the county. I wasn't saying you did it wrong, just for my peace of mind i would add to it from what it looked like to me. There's plenty of ways to skin a rabbit and i don't know them all. I love to learn new ways to, so i would love a tour.
Also Holmes always says to glue it and screw it and that's what you did so it's good then. :)

So sorry it took me so long to weigh in on this fishroom project since Dave built this for me. Dave's work was impeccable, the utmost attention to detail. This turned out far better than I ever expected. His carpentry was outstanding, plumbing/electric perfection, and the aeration system ideal. Dave made sure everything was well thought out and truly working well already with the Angelfish happy, pairing and breeding already. He gets a 5 STAR in my book. I've had tropical fish since I was 7 years old and thank Dave for finally helping me become a more serious hobbyist.
