I don't have much experience with them, but I have heard that "nasty glass bangin' cichlids have their own ideas about aquascaping.

They should have some sand or gravel to dig around. Since they dig you want to make sure the sand isn't too fine(could get cloudy). For other decor the key is for something sturdy. Large rocks and driftwood arranged securely. Plants would probably have to be the plastic variety, although depending on the species something like anubias or java fern might work.

As for a wet pet fish in a 75, you can't go wrong with a midas/red devil. They are beautiful, mean, get a good size, and most of them are glass bangers.

from my experience nasty glass bangin cichlid and aquascaaping do not go together at all, notice my tag and the line at the end of my profile page.....

A couple of tall plastic plants with a weighted base...is about the only aquascaping that will work :)

And depending on what "wet pet" you get, even the plastic plant could get ripped apart. Had a pair of jags that didn't tolerate plastic plants of any type several years ago! LOL...

Thanks for the advice everyone I'll proly not do plants in this tank. I put just a few good size rocks and some driftwood. I picked up a cichlid until I figure out what I want I can't just have an empty tank. I'm not sure what it is though if anyone knows let me know

Looks like a salvini to me, and a big one at that. Post up some more pics once it has settled in to the tank a bit.

A word of warning, though. Salvinis are notorious for being reclusive although I have not kept them myself. Don't be surprised if he isn't much of a glass banger.

IME Sals are reclusive if not kept as a pair. With target fish of course. Unless they are breeding in which case everything is a target. Including you. Good looking male though.
