Congrats! EBR's are beautiful. Its really neat to see detailed pictures on such a small scale. Will be interested to see the continued development.

DA.. Finally I've encountered someone that uses that plug... "thought the fool" other than me... I blog on a political site... (leanings to be kept separate from my hobby).. and have used that saying dozens of times!..

Back to the topic.. I have a hard enough time snapping a pic that allows the viewer to ID the specie let alone what they just ate for breakfast!... Great photos LM...

IMHO.. Rams are like 57 T-birds... just the right size.. stylish.. not TOO flashy but just so darn cool.. Tks for sharing... Bill

Nice robust looking parents. Fry already free swimming, sounds like success. Let us know how they grow.

Not much more to post. They spawn regularly every 2 weeks or so. I find a few interesting deformed fry. Even got one that has a beak like a bird. It would pick up food by pecking at it like an underwater chicken. This guy would put the red parrot fish to shame. You guys think there is a market for EB parrot Ram?

These are obviously line bred fish. I have no problem with that and would keep them myself if I came across them at a better time. I would be interested in how true they breed. Anyone who has bred really nice red or orange flash cacatuoides knows they do not generally breed true. This is true of most like bred fish.

Please keep us up to speed on these if you can. I would think you would find a ready market for them if they do look anything like the parents.

Thanks for the pictures.

George

The EBR breeds true. I feed my ram fry paramecium for the first couple of days then mix newly hatched artemia for the next few days.

As for the A. cacatuoides, used to breed them over 15yrs ago. Back then, we dont have orange flash and the double and triple reds are just nicer specimen of the red variety. Now the orange flash is mixed in with all commerically available double and triple red, is like a cacatuoide mixing pot.

Here is an EBR female with her progenies.
