Digging cichlids and my Aquaclear 110.

I have crushed coral in my tank. My fish love to pick up the crushed coral and move it around with their mouths. They spit it out right into my Aquaclear 110 filter tubes which sucks the crushed coral inside.

What do you do to avoid getting crushed coral in your hang on back filters?

I use a prefilter with my HoBs. I find the the prefilter gets clogged and I need to rinse it off from time to time.
