Deep water halp.

Anyone have any thoughts on the gender of this placidochromis electra? He is about 3-3.5 inches. His fin structure suggests male however is color suggests female. He does have some green showing on his face and some light purple on his body. I have never kept them before so I'm not sure about what size they show adult colors. As this is a larger species is it possible they mature at a larger size than say they azureus he is next too? Any info on this guy would help. Thanks

The tank has so much structure its quite a chore emptying it to catch the fish they will be moving to a 125 this week and I plan on venting him during the move

Those are some of the least aggressive haps I've kept. At that size (and with the other fish you have with it), it doesn't surprise me that is hasn't colored up yet. Going to have to give it time to see if it colors up or not.

Also remember that until a female spawns, venting often will look male. Until then, it's far from 100%.
