I would definitely NOT reseal it. I would think that your reseal job is more likely to fail than old silicone.

Fill the thing up, wait 24 hours, if it hasn't leaked, it ain't gonna.

I am happy to report that the tank survived the water test. I am going to set it up in my classroom.
