Can you add sealant to the existing seal?

I bought two 75G Aqueon tanks from Petco on $1 per gallon sale. These tanks are cheaply made with the littlest seal possible. The seams look okay but the silicone on the inside corners are very little and thin.

I know resealing a brand new tank sounds like an obsessive compulsive disorder but I was thinking adding more silicone sealant on top of the existing seal can help me sleep better at night. What do you guys think?

Happy Friday! :)

I don't think it would do much of anything to provide a "better" seal on the tank. Typically, just caulking over old caulk isn't the right thing to do. The two sealants will not bond to each other.

I really wouldn't worry about the factory seals on brand new tanks. Aequeon sells a lot of tanks, and if the seals weren't functional, they would have fixed it by now.
