I've had 3 of these for quite some time... but they were all females. So, when I was up at Julies I picked up a male :)

1 day in the tank and I have a female holding ! She seems like she will hold full term :) The males of this species are just stunning !

Here is a pic of a male I had a long time ago... I could only get 2 males back then so needless to say I never bred them years ago.

If that pic is of a male without females in the tank, what does your new male's breeding colors look like?

Also, there is a social comment to make about leaving three females in a confined space without a male for a long period of time and then having a spawn the day after a male is added... but I'm going to refrain from making that comment. Boom chika boom boom

The male I have now is even better looking ! You can't tell in that pic but they have yellow around the cheek/head area. Basically every color in the rainbow in these guys. I have never understood why these weren't more popular. They are not that hard to keep and are very active fun fish. Kind of like a Hap from lake malawi with tropheus activity. Needs 4 feet but other than that ... not too bad ( maybe 3 for f1... these are wild so not sure on that )! They can eat anything as well and don't bother other fish other than their own kind. And they don't need to be kept in large groups. A trio or quad will do.

I'll get a pic of my new male soon :)
