Breeding advice

I have a few Mainganos in one of my 45 gallon tanks and the male wants to mate. Does anyone have any advice on how to get them to start breeding and should I put anything else with them to keep their aggression down?

45g?
What are the dimensions?
Sounds kind of small for Maingano.
How many are in there all together?
Male/female breakdown?

Yikes!
Mainganos need to be in groups much larger than you have.
They also need MORE room that a pentagon-caddied-corner tank....as a matter of fact there is no Malawi that would fit in the tank like that.
Sorry to disappoint you with my answer, but you have a recipe for death in there.
Giraffe? I just had to Google that...you mean Venustus?

Please do all of those animals a huge favor and get them into a much larger tank (4' long or larger).

It was a last resort for the Mainganos I am going to getting rid of them soon unless by some miracle they would breed (appaently not). The venustus are still only 1.25-1.5 inches so they are still being grown out so they can go into my 5' 120 gallon because they are still small to be in that tank with my bigger Malawi's.

how big are the Mainganos?
just leave them alone, they will breed when they are ready and you will have too much to get rid off.
Keep your water clean and watch them
