Back In 2001

These are shots when I first started out. Some where around 2000. Try not to gag too much. Blown highlights, piss poor PS editing, reflections, etc., etc.

Hold on to your hat...I didn't keep just cichlids...still don't. :D

I was quite pleased with myself back then, these days, however, I can see what is wrong with the photos.

(My name is on them that way because I was such a loser and posted them on the web thinking that people wouldn't steal them if I signed them.)

I didn't have them long. Didn't know what I was doing. It's an African cichlid, you see.

Francine, while faults can be found in most of these, they all are better than most folks can achieve...even with much practice. Recognition of the mistakes makes you a better photographer.

I've only been shooting a DSLR for only eleven months now. Because of all of the good help I receive over at the Aquatic Photography Forum, improvement has come much quicker for me, than a lot of people could accomplish in the same time frame.

Everything I shot in 2004 was shot with my wife's Kodak Easyshare p&s. I didn't get my SB800 until March 2005, so I shot mostly without flash with D70 for the first couple months.

Still learning basics, I have a long way to go before I'm totally confident understanding DSLR photography. But I know what to look for that is wrong with my results. That helps a lot. Recognizing mistakes, and correcting them, produces better results much quicker.

I'll look for some shots from earlier to share, and you will see how good of a photographer YOU are. ;)
