ammonia levels

I'm setting up another dirted 10 gallon because I love dirted tanks and how the plants grow. I will post pics of my 55 gallon dirted tank which has a lot of growth in the month that it's been running, my question to you guys is what level of ammonia is considered high?

Isn't pretty much any level of measurable ammonia high? I don't do much water testing unless I see a problem as most of my tanks have been set up for years.

Well, 0.25 is fine but I want know if levels of 0.50 high? Through my little experience with the dirted tank I've learned that the cycling process is a bit longer and I want to find out if my 10 gallon dirted tank is close to being cycled.

I used garden loam for my such setups. it was my experience that cycling was basically instant. the soil should contain plenty bacteria.
