Algae/Lighting

So I have two questions

1) How do I get rid of the green algae? The algae is blue green and I believe that is a cyanobacteria and not an algae, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for removing this algae.

2) How much light is required for african cichlids and is lighting essential for recreating a natural envirnoment? Some of these fish live at a considerable depth which is not penetrated by much light. Is it critical for their to be light for these cichlids to breed?

Thanks Tim

If you want to kill the algae, load up some 3% hydrogen peroxide in
a syringe and spot treat it. You can safely use upto 25ml per 10G tank
per 24 hours. Keep the light on for atleast 1 hr after treatment. The
peroxide will reduce to water and O2. The algae will be GONE in treated
area within 24-48 hours.

Tip on african cichlid lighting - use Coralife 50/50 bulbs. It'll really help
show off their colors. Don't know if that in turn will make them more
attractive to a counterpart and ..
