Adding sand

Is there a good way to add sand to a tank with water and fins in place?

First, turn off all filters, pumps, and air to the tank. Then, put the well-washed sand in a container that fits easily in you tank. You will need to do this several times. Fill the container with water outside of the tank and sink it slowly. Once at the bottom, pour it out slowly, it'll fall.

You might be better off draining a portion of the water out first. But put a plate or dish over the sand before pouring water back in.

Lastly, run a sponge prefilter for a while.
