Just to give an idea of the size of this pile of explosives, this is my golf bag in front of the fireworks. That is one of the BIG staff bags like the pros have, very large!!! Looks kinda small in this picture...

Any one of those boxes would be a "finale piece" for the ordinary person, like the guys at the fireworks store said, we're a rare breed ;)

I miss those days. A couple years ago I had a pile that dwarfed that stack. Not even close. I bought stuff by the case because it was a lot cheaper that way (i.e., stuff that was $69 each were cases of 4 for $109) But now our new development is getting close to finished, houses are too close together, and worst of all, my wife is on the HOA board :( I was setting off fireworks for hours, and it was glorious! I still have some leftover from those days, which I use as the finale for my PA legal stuff. The kids still like it, but it's just not the same.

Looks like you have some reloadables there-be careful with those things. I have had several fail to lift and blow up at ground level. If you think they are loud 2-300 feet up, just think what they are like at ground level! My ears were ringing. You don't want to be too close to those should that happen.

One more thing...if you do have trouble with the reloadables, I have had a lot of success by reinforcing the mortar with duct tape. I wrap it all the way up the tube, overlapping it about half each time around, essentially giving it a double layer of duct tape in addition to the tube itself. Haven't had any ground level explosions since I started doing that.

Last year we had 2 explode in the tube, it's not cool at all. The tubes are molded plastic with 1/4" walls, very heavy duty and it blew the side out of the tubes. Luckily nobody was hurt bad, couple blisters. We go up on the ridge behind the house to set em off, everyone else stays down by the house and pool. We're way out in the boonies but we can hear the couple neighbors that we do have applauding even tho we can't see their houses. I kept the tubes that blew up last year to serve as reminders, I'll try to get a picture of them, it's pretty skeery!!!

Dang Mike. Those sots trump the bacon porn you posted the other day, lol.

Hope they were tasty and no one lost any fingers.

I can always make a batch of ribs that taste great so I judge them by how tender they are. These ribs would easily pull apart, no knife needed (except maybe to fend off the person sitting next to you). Even when I served em up to everyone I'd ask how much of the slab they wanted and I'd just pull it apart at the spot they showed me. Nothing like being able to grab a bone and pull it out of the meat!!! Yesterday perfection was achieved, they were AWESOME!!!

The final tally is in:

This year I cooked:

56 lbs of pork butts
6 racks of st.Louis cut ribs (pork)
6 lbs of thick sliced bacon
6 lbs of loose sausage
15 lbs of Italian Sausages (4 to a lb)
6 whole fryer chickens
Several burgers and dogs

Think that's all...

We had leftovers.

I picked up an armload of fireworks (illegal of course) that I picked up in Ohio when I went to last year's ACA and walked through my neihborhood till I found a house with kids in front. It was about nine PM.

I lit up my cigar (good example for kids) and started shooting rockets into the sky. I asked the kids if they liked them and of course they did. I told the kids the rockets were illegal and asked what they thought about a government that made then so. The kids were not in favor of that and the parents, who heard every word, cheered the kids on. I had fun and made a few more anarchists.

HOT ****!! Isn't that what the fourth is all about?

This is what I'll be using to light the fireworks next year: http://shop.1asecure.com/prod.cfm?ProdID=374296&StID=10084

Out of $820 worth of fireworks me and my bro-inlaw only get to enjoy about $100 worth of em :( we're to busy running around lighting wicks and reloading tubes but not next year!!! We'll set everything up during the day and come show time we'll sit back 100yds away and push buttons :)
