3m Colorquartz

I want to change the sand in my L. Brevis tank to black 3m Color quartz. I think the darker sand will bring out their color better than Pool filter sand. Can it still be had at the store in Laurel? Which grade is closes to sand?

s grade is "finer" than most sands, t grade is a bit coarser, but still considered a fine sand.

As for my preference, its t grade as its much more vaccable. Either work out beautifully. I have pics of both probably or can take some for you.

Where in SoMD are you?

I got mine from Tom at ATS Pools in Rockville, but that was more than a year ago.

I have a leftover bag of S grade black if you can't find what you're looking for. IME, the black did require all the rinsing people post about.

YOU ARE GONNA LOVE IT! BOYH ARE EASY TO VACUUM WITH A PYTHON

+1. I have a python connected to a utility sink with both hot + cold faucets at full blast to create maximum suction, and short of intentionally placing the python directly INTO the sand it never sucks up my 3m Colorquartz Buff color S-Grade sand. The stuff is very dense and sinks fast...

It's a shame 3M discontinued it... Luckily Estes still makes a color quartz product as well, and still plenty of 3M colorquartz stock left over.

I have the larger grade and love it. I was thinking it was too big for my smaller fish to move around, but have it in my little 10 gallon multi tank and they have no issues.

So yeah, for brevis it should be fine.

Looks like they moved to Glen Burnie 410-768-4900
They have S and T grade black. It has been discontinued but still have some in stock. They are about 5 minutes from my house.
