I've always wanted to try a Gymnogeophagus species. If I keep the tank on the floor by the door to the outside during the winter, I think I'll be able to get it into the mid-to-low 60's. At least that's what I'm guessing based on the temperature in that part of the room today. Is that low...
I have a proven trio of Gymnogeophagus 'Rio Olimar' and/or at least ten extra 1/2" fry that are available for a quick trade if anyone is interested. I will be in the Glen Burnie area Sunday afternoon and could deliver or meet in that area.
I am most interested in a proven angelfish pair trade...
I was in the store recently and saw some Gymnogeophagus Rio Olimar and maybe Yerbalito. I was wondering if it is known whether they were imports from Uruguay (F0) or farm raised?
Thanks.
The Rio Cureim is the northernmost river in Uruguay, separating Uruguay from Brazil. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever experienced...and is filled with several species of pike, including the lip spot pike or Celidochilus. It also has a couple of Gymnogeos (or naked eatheaters)...
Got 5 of these guys from Michael back in January for $20. They are yours for $30.
I will try to post pics later, but they are about 2" and couple are starting to color up pretty nicely.
These fish are also known as Uruguay eartheaters. I have a large school of fry from the male pictured below. They are about a half inch. I am willing to sell groups of 8 to 12 fish. PM me if interested. I can ship or bring to the June CCA meeting.
I'll be receiving 2 pairs of "Catalan" this week, and am considering some "El Norte" as well. I presume they're named by collection site?
They would be housed in separate tanks, though one or the other would be sharing a 75 growout tank with some Australoheros oblongum juvies that are just old...
