Running an XP canister on my 75 gallon and had a leak in the filter hose which resulted in 65 gallons of water on the floor.
Luckily the tank is in my unfinished basement on a concrete floor, lots of clean up work of course.

I love the Rena Filters - easy to prime and start - mine are quiet - very easy to maintain - some models have an adjustable valve (near the spray bar) to regulate spray bar water flow - IMO very good filters......

I would not stick it in the sand like you would with a gravel substrate.
It has an impeller type pump like a hob filter and so you would not want sand in the "moving parts" of the vacuum.
I have pool filter sand for substrate in my Peacock/Hap set up, the poop not picked up by the filter collects in one area and since it's sand it stays on the surface.
Every morning before feeding I grab my Eheim vac and pull out the poop collected in the one location - works great.
Recently I purchased a used Api Rena Filstar XP XL.
The seller threw in a bunch of media to include a PURA filtration pad which is big as a door mat.
I'm not familiar with cut to fit products, but now I'm interested.
Most of what I could find on this product was from Marine Hobbyist...
Those are really beautiful fish, I like them very much but I do not believe they are Wild F1 Cacatuoides.
Wild Cacatuoides are more of a blueish color and they do not display the dramatic finnage color found in your fish.
But nevertheless a gorgeous pair and you will no doubt soon see fry...
