What Kind Of Cichlids Do You Have At Home?

Ooooh, great ideas ya'll!

But we have about a dozen rolls of adding machine tape and about 2 dozen rolls of clear packing tape, so I
was trying to use up some of the junk we have on hand! Especially with all the new tanks up & running & waiting
for their inhabitants. Whew! But I actually am starting a list of everything we have as far as fish. I'll try to get it posted here after the new fish come in this week.

I actually found an idea on one of those remodeling/home cleanup shows on TV...Chalkboard paint on the frint of my racks. Mine are wood 2x4's so it would work They used it in a garage shelving setup. If you move something, erase it and put it on somewhere else....Just don't use fingernails :angry3:

I'm a teacher in Potomac where I keep a 55 Gal. tank of African cichlids. I had this tank at home (germantown) for years and kept Africans with varying degrees of success. I now have 13 fish. The king of the tank is a 5" L. Hongi and there's a P. Daktari, N. Brichardi, T. Duboisi, P. Acei, O. Lithobates, C. Borleyi, 4 N. Leleupi, a Synodontis Brichardi, an unfortunately a strawberry peacock hybrid. It's a lovely fish, I just hadn't planned on supporting hybridization, but I guess it's all through our hobby now. I would like to see some breeding in the tank. I had a gorgeous pair of what I bought as obliquidens but was likely sp. 44 and they had 8 or 10 broods before he killed her with attention and then faded away himself. The kids really enjoyed the breeding process, so I was hoping to find folks I could trade or purchase females from as most of my fish are males.

OK. Since you asked.

The 65 high has the FFCs (feral florida cichlids) I brought back from my last visit. I dipnetted them from the canals around Miami and Fort Lauderdale:

4 or 5 Hemichromis letourneuxi (Jewel cichlids)
4 cichlasoma uropthalmus (mayan cichlids)
I cichlasoma salvini
2 cichlasoma bimaculatum (black acaras)
1 jaguar guapote

In the 55 I won at the CCA raffle some years ago

4 yellow lab breeders
5 ruby red peacocks
7 albino ancistrus from a CCA auction

In the 29 high:
3 Aulonocara stuartgranti, "Chilumba"
plus a couple of clowns and a mature ancistrus

In the 20 long:
3 Maylandia sp. "long pelvic"
5 Melanochromis johani
6 younger yellow labs.

Plus, scattered in other tanks
juvenile jewel cichlid, jaguar guapote and salvini

I keep non cichlids, too:
black banded sunnies (you would not believe how cool these are.)
colony of Fundulopanchax scheeli (neat african killie)
A big ugly feral florida pleco that eats cichlid resistant val
2 cory species
And what may well be the fish that wins best in show at the catfish convention
(It's a surprise, so you'll just have to wait and see.)

I have always wanted to find out what kind of Cichlids everyone at CCA have at home.

As for me, I have the following:
