How do you determine which is the right replacement tube for a given light fixtures.

Can i switch between high output and regular tubes? or do i have to stick to one...how do they differ?

How about watts, i am not sure what my current tubes are and if they were compatible with the fixture.

specifications on current fixtures:

input voltage: 120vac, input current 0.8 A, input freq: 60Hz
Lamp type: F18T5 BP 18W, power: 36 Watt

Which lamp should I be using in this?

Are these the correct ones: http://www.amazon.com/Coralife-8041...xgy_199_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0K95T87M1R0XZT6YKPVR

I am planning to get 6700 and 10K.

I had never research so much about light before, my fish make me do stuff!

The current light which went off said following: 120V F18 T5 BP.

nothing about watts or it being HO or regular.

Thanks in advance for your help.

According to the fixture info provided you need an 18watt T5 Normal output 30inch bulb like this one.

You can not use High Output bulbs in that fixture. They are not inter changeable.
Just so you know the bulb length is actually shorter than 30" they go by the fixture size that it goes in.
F18 is the type and wattage of the lamp
T5 is the size/diameter. how many 1/8". T5=5/8", T8=1", T12=1-1/4"
Don't know what the BP is for.
