Duck Lip

I have a large cichlid that I grew out from a baby for the past three years. On Thursday, I awoke to find he is showing "duck lip"- where his upper lip is fully extended and seems unable to retract. I have seen this on fish traded in to TFW, but never saw it just show up. What is the cause and more importantly, what is the treatment?

I have heard of similar things happening to alto comps where their top jaw gets stuck fully extended.

Thanks for the link. That is exactly what is happening. I guess I will try to gently push it back in in hopes it won't pop out again.

doesnt that happen when fish fight? Is there another fish he locks lips with?

Well, just as predicted, I gently pushed the lip back in, only to have it pop right back out. I tried this a few times with no luck. He still eats fine, but is just funny looking now. Thanks for the suggestion.
