XP3 help

When I opened my XP3 for cleaning, there was a plug floating in the canister. There are 2 possible holes in the top(pump/ motor section) that it could go into.

Does anyone know which holes gets plugged?

It goes into the side hole. When mine kept coming out, I ended up gluing it in, and it has been fine ever since.
