SB800 Crazy

I just picked up a used macro lens so I thought I'll just chill out on anymore camera purchases for a while and save money for a Nikon SB800 flash. Since it will be awhile, I thought I'd start looking on line to see what the current prices are.

Guess what, Nikon discontinued the SB800. I'm a newbie so most of my focus is on taking picture I don't keep up with all the latest equipment news. Anyway to make a long story short all of the major stores are sold out or back ordered.I have looked on Ebay,Craigslist etc..everyone is selling the used ones for more than you could have bought one for new, even at the highest place in town.

There is one online place that claims they still have new ones in stock. They want $334,that's about $50 more than they were this summer. I read were someone was saying this summer Bestbuy was blowing them out for $200 to get rid of them because they were discontinued I guess I slept on that one lol.

If I find something soon I'm going to pounce on it even thuogh I was planning on waiting. If I can't find anything I'll end up having to shell out a extra $150. The replacement(SB900) run around $500, ouch!!

I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks

Supply and demand sucks. Ama$on has the nerve to be selling it for $699! Hopefully, photogs keep their wits about them and pass on purchasing this flash unit at such ridiculous prices. Extortion!

I'll keep an eye out for you after I get a couple more. :)
