Question on Eartheaters

So bear with me here, I have a rookie question(again)! I am considering either Biotodoma cupido or Geophagus altifrons for a 90g. No more than 5-6 of either. Here's the question, how much of my sand substrate are they going to move? Do they dig holes to the bottom? Dig up plants? Rearrange MY arrangement? Or do they just suck it, spit it, and move on? Thanks Ya'll

Can't speak to Biotodoma but altifrons aren't the fish you want if you want a perfectly manicured tank. They'll move sand, dig, move stuff, etc. At least mine do.

They also get about a foot, so a 90g would be a bit snug...

Biotodoma don't dig to much. The geo's will dig. If you have to have plants you could do try using some potted ones

90G is too small for altifrons and they will eat plants and move your substrate around.

If you interested I have geos altifrons I am selling in groups of 3 for $45 they are about 3 inches and are just coloring up nicely.

Yep the Altifrons would not be a good choice for a manicured, planted tank. They will make a mess of it. Plus they get too large for a 90 eventually.

The Cupido are a good choice. I would also suggest Guianacara as they are not too hard on plants or substrate either.

Would Cupido and Guianacara be compatible in groups of 5-6 of each? Both are very cool looking fish. I'm having a hard time settling on one or the other.

I have *little* exp with geos, I have 3 geo jurupari, but I've learned that as they grow (my biggest is about 7-8 inches) they WILL EAT FISH so u need to watch out for that. And also ANY size gravel is a BIG NO NO, sand is a MUST! They WILL re-scape the tank for you constantly, but as I said this is just my little bit of experience with them, so take it ad u may.
