Photoshop Elements 10?

Found Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on Amazon for $50 (downloaded version). Considering the price of CS5 is like $500+, it seems like a good buy for someone like me who isn't particularly hardcore.

They also offer a physical combo pack (you get the DVDs) for $70. it includes "Premiere Elements."

Anyone have any experience using this program vs, the full CS5? I've read that it does most things its big brother does and the things it doesn't, I likely won't be using.

I haven't used Photoshop elements but do have CS5.

Photoshop is quite a program and I've bought manuals to add to the manuals to learn how to do some of the really cool things you can do. The neatest is the new content fill.

Like this photo of an altum in my tank. I was able to extract him and put him on a separate layer. Put him off to the side and add effects to give a shadow. Then I took the tank background and used content fill to remove the elements I didn't want in the picture. Gave the background a motion blur and replaced the altum. It's one of the cool things you can do when your background just isn't all that pretty but the shot of the fish was.

If your looking to just correct your photos, elements will probably do it.

It's a lot to learn and it depends on what you plan on doing. It is also a boat load of fun. If you want to give photoshop a try you can download it for a 30 day trial from adobe. They also do a month to month and yearly subscriptions.

I have been using PS elements and Premier for the past 3 years. It is great it has everything a non professional will need. They essentially have taken the best part of CSx product and consumerized. The catalog is easy to use,the guided editing and manual editing, Premier is easy to use video editing software and its integrated with PS. Get the combo pack. This is time of year is the cheapest you will find it

Awesome. Thanks guys. Gonna pull the trigger - or at least point Santa in the right direction. :)

I could use the video editing software as well.

If I can get a middle schooler to use Elements, you'll have no problems with it. Unless you do digital imaging for money, you don't need CS5.
