Setting up a 70 gal. Hopfully, a Tanganika tank. I like Bricardi and need suggestions for what other fish about that size

Welcome! I've mostly seen Brichardi in species tanks since they can be very territorial when spawning (which is the majority of the time). They are a colony breeder which means they allow their fry to grow up within the group and older fry will actually defend younger fry as well.

Wow. That is amazing!!! I've never heard of anything other than sibling rivalry in fish! My first ever cichlid spawn of Yellow Labs.... What a nightmare. Good luck with the tank!

Welcome to the forum, as stated above they can be very territorial and their fry do protect new generations of fry. They are a fun colony to watch and beautiful cichlids that stay relatively small in size. "Julies are great tank mates as well. I have a breeding pair of the Daffodil strain that I am going to sell. Good Luck and enjoy

Depending on the footprint (if it's big enough), you can combine two types of rock-dwelling colonizers... brichardi can go with either leleupi or a smaller Julidochromis with no worries of crossbreeding. The yellows of the leleupi and the trailers on the brichardi make for a really stunning display tank.

Alternatively, you could add a bunch of shells and a colony of multifaciatus. I'd stick with two species though for maximum effect/minimum bloodshed.
