I find it difficult to give an opinion on Canon equipment because I don't use it. There are other Canon folks on here.

Second, a lot has to do with how you want to use the camera. Say if you just want to use it for everyday stuff it might be fine, but if you plan to use it for speciality subjects like for photographing fish or other macro subjects, sports, portraits, et al, you'll have to consider lenses as well. A good place to get a better idea and to compare cameras you run across would be www.dpreview.com.

There you can compare camera models side by side, do searches for opionions and get reviews that include pros and cons. Another goood way, get someone to talk to you about cameras and their capabilities by going to Penn Camera and talk to the salesmen. (Laurel location has nice folks.) Don't feel that they will pressure into sales. If they try just move onto the next person.

Another consideration is to figure out how compassionate you are about the craft. Is this a camera that you plan to use a lot and become proficient? There are lot of members here who have had to buy up because they outgrew the camera.

Sorry, I can't give you a straight answer. I would have to research the model for its capabilities vs my needs then see how much a package like that would cost several differant places before I could give you an opinion.

Good luck!

This site has lots Nikon and some Cannon info.

If you are planning on using the camera for fish photo's remember the flash is very important so choose a camera brand that has or supports a high quality flash/speedlight (probably the main reason I use Nikon)

Auto focus lens are very helpful for fish photography so remember that some entry level cameras/ lens don't have this feature
