I need stuff for the next issue. If you need a photographer to illustrate your article, ask nicely and one will appear!

When compiling the issue, I like to have an article on a species from each continent, DIY and catfish. Breeding accounts are especially fabulous! Of course, the member spotlight is the most coveted. So if Bob asks you, please say yes!

Your club needs you to pack each issue.

BTW, don't convert your images to black and white. If we publish in color...

What kind of articles are you looking for?
What about a "newbie spotlight" or somekind of mini-spotlight? I.e., name, type of fish you keep, years in hobby, lessons learned, etc.

Thanks. I'm glad you think I'm to be coveted. (I'll have to ask Janet whether she thinks so, too.)

While we're on the subject, when's the deadline for turning stuff in?

Also, I'm not sure whom to visit. Does anyone have any ideas? Please PM me off list. (I like to keep it a surprise and not say who it is until the issue comes out. I think it's more fun that way.)

Francine - any way I could get a back copy or two to see what you're looking for? Length?

I read an amusing account on a different forum of someone bringing a fish back to fla from cali. If I gain permission to retell his story - is that something you'd be interested in?

Lively, any length but we try not to reprint if we can. We like to keep things as fresh as possible. Sometimes we end up doing a reprint because we don't have enough articles, but we prefer to have other clubs reprint us. lol

Everyone can write something.
I know I have posted this in many threads but the topics are there.
My first example is always " How I got started in the hobby."
Everyone got started some way.

It wasn't an article - it was one of those - "You'll never believe what I had to do to get this fish home" stories shared by a forum member to forum member :) Light on detail in the post (a long story short)- but funny enough that I think if I got the long story it might make for an intersting story... and if he wouldn't mind giving me the whole story interview style and I rewrote in a story format, I thought it could make a neat article.

His short story shortened more by me lol. He saw a fish while on vacation in San Diego that he fell in love with. Called the airline to see if he could take it on the plane, was assured that as long as security could see the fish swimming there would be no issue taking it aboard with more than 3oz of water. Didn't happen that way - luckily for him, security guy wanted to see the fish get to its new home as he had just started in the hobby and decided to allow the fish on - if it was in 3oz of water... So he goes to the bathroom, empties the extra water into a second bag he had and stowed it away in his crotch (I really want to know why he chose his crotch lol) and board plane with fish and illicit water... fish makes it to its new home in florida fine and is doing well.

The story amused me no end - but I'm sure ya'll have noticed by now, I find amusement easily :)

If you write an article such as a compilation of 'Crazy Fish Tales', from your perspective it would fantastic.

I have a lot of family commitments over the next three weeks. However, if I can do it, I will.

Seems like we are always beggin for people to write something. With 122 members in the club you would think we could come up with stuff to fill a years worth of Biotope issues.
I know Bob and Rob and a few others always come through for us. How about some other people.

I went back to a post from last year and pasted some ideas:

So who is writing about their fish for BAP points?

Who is telling us how they got into the hobby. Everyone of you is in the hobby. HOW did you get here.

Lots of ideas are out there. Lets see some.

How about a do it yourself....
home made tank,

fish room construction,

home made light assembly...

new reflector,

fish filter material.

Someone could draw a cartoon for it......?

Review of a camera or lens for phis photography? (oops, spelling)

How do you modify a product for your use?

Something written about the trip you take to North Carolina for the workshop?

Review of the NEC convention in April?

Come up with a list of household items you use in your fish room that work great even though they were not made for fish... You know the old nylon holding the filter material type of thing. ACLA did a whole meeting talk on it. 3 members brought all the little kitchen and other items they use in the fish room and explained. Put it in writing.

There are always more ideas.

I used to always do one called " I made mistakes, why should you" explaining mistakes I made in the hobby and how to avoid them. I made lots of mistakes.....I know someone else has too. I know I am not the only one to ever make a mistake and learn from it.

How did you make that breeding cave.

Give me time, I will come up with more...lol

If I can do it, you can too.

How I got into the hobby oops I said that but again, your all in it right?

My favorite fish.

Review a book

Your experiance at a show.

Your favorite filter or food.
just dont bad mouth anyone.

your favorite store. here again, do not badmouth anyone.

a collecting trip. (Matt? George?)

The furthest you ever traveled to look at a fish or a fish store.

review the Baltimore Aquarium

Gravel vs Sand vs Bare bottom tanks

what type of lights do you like and why

how and why you treat your water. Or don't treat the water

draw a funny picture of me. (well maybe not.)

There are lots of things you can do. This was a few.
give me 10 minutes and I will come up with more.
