Mixing Tropheus

This is more for my mild curiosity than something I'm getting ready to try.
If you had two Tropheus species that varied fairly significantly in color; say T. moorii ("Murango") Zaire and T. moorii Katete Zambia, is there a good chance they would interbreed, or would they tend to stick to their own color pattern?

There is a good chance that 2 moorii would cross.

What tropheus types would mix well? We will be setting up a tropheus tank in late Jan/Feb and are currently leaning towards a single species tank. That said it is always interesting to understand the options.

Duboisi can mix with any of them.

Sp. black with moorii generally works.

brichardi with any of them...

annectens with any of them...

Get the idea? The only time this doesn't apply is if the fish look a a like.

Good advice from all so far. I think all will tell you that Tropheus actually do best in a species tank with only some Synos if you must.
