In regards to power compact lighting, Is it possible to use lower wattage bulbs in a higher wattage fixture?

I know you can do this with HQI halides, but am not sure about PCs.

There are lower wattage bulbs out there for power compact....

I was looking for two fixtures I have recently.... I still ended up going with 55 watts when it came to the price for double stright pins.

Yeah I'm using 55 watt bulbs in a Coralife fixture meant for 65 watt bulbs. Been running for a few months now without any problems.

The AGA and coralife ballasts can run 55/65 watt PCs without issue. I am looking to downgrade the wattage in an aquapod. The fixture came with 2- 27w PCs. I want to swap them out for 18w PCs and am unsure if the fixture will run them or blow them.
