Irresponsible fishkeepers who dump unwanted pond fish are being blamed for an outbreak of the deadly fish disease Koi Herpes Virus at a lake in Reading.

I found this article from the UK most interesting. Read the 2 comments following it as well. They really present both sides of the story.

Have there been any contamination concerns from fish release in this area? (I, up until now, thought the main problem was pet fish taking over niches in wild.)

I heard a few months ago that Koi are no longer allowed to be imported into the United States.

Too bad for Koi lovers...

There is an outbreak in the states as well of VHS... Fish and wild life here in DC are freaking out about it... It affects mostly trout etc.

This is a topic I started quite a while back.... I haven't talk to this person since... but I'm sure I will this X-mass again at Bill's company Party.
