i have come the the decision that running 6 small air pumps is annoying after losing 1 to a power surge earlier today.:angry3::angry3:

can you use a slandered air compressor to supply air to a fish tank. im talking about one like you would use to pump up your car tire or run a impact gun.

i mean is the air it creates safe for the fish and such. i can work the math about plumbing it and cutting the pressure and all that im just worried if a black and decker air compressor can kill the fish or not.

I'm not so sure. I know my the air compressor at my folks utilizes a good amount of oil to keep the tools oiled. This can't be good for fish.

Bigger concern for me though would be the amount of power consumed to run an air compressor for just a fish room. My AV-50 runs about 25-30 devices and consumes 40 watts. It was only $86 from Ken's. I know my dad's compressor pulls at least 10x that.

i got the ap-100 from ken and it is a bit more money. i plan to expand my tank set up and only wanted to run one pump and the tim taylor bug got me on this one....

I have this pump (well, one like it) to run my sponge filters. I had it running 10 airlines pretty well. Its sort of like a poor mans AV-50 and runs at about 25 watts! I
