sounds like you have males cct. the bigger tube is for egg laying. the males tube is pointed and thinner.

The males stripes turn into spots when they get larger, I think that is the easiest way to tell sex on jags.

they are settling into the 75g nicely but the mating hasnt happened. they are acting like they going to do something though.
